CTFD Seal

CTFD Seal

This seal of the College Township Fire Department represents a new image for the department into the 21st century. It symbolizes a joint partnership between College Township, Monroe Township and Kenyon College in providing the best possible emergency services for these three communities.

The maltese cross, a traditional symbol of the fire service, represents our willingness to serve and protect in the areas of fire protection, rescue, and EMS. The words “College” and “Monroe” represent the two townships served by the department. The number “450” is the established department number for our organization.

The placement of Old Kenyon at the center of the seal carries a threefold purpose. First, it represents Kenyon College’s dedication to the department. Second, as one of the oldest structures in the district, it is a longstanding symbol of this community.

Finally, as the site of one of the greatest fire tragedies in this region’s history the symbol of Old Kenyon carries deep meaning for this department. Old Kenyon has been encased in a shield to represent our dedication to preventing the destruction and loss of life which occurred in 1949. Just as Old Kenyon was rebuilt we dedicate ourselves to building the best possible department for our citizens.
